The piece portrays what appears to be an abstract oblong curve, but as part of Dalís five lithograph set titled The Anamorphoses Portfolio, published in 1972, there is more than what meets the eye. Le Crane, or The Skull appears as a full image following Dalís instructions: when a print is placed flat on a table with a cylindrical mirror about 3″ in diameter at a specific spot, a new image appears in the cylinder.” Piece is an optical allusions, used by Dalí to conceal "secret" or "forbidden" images in plain sight.
